If you have already started using Windows 8, you might have noticed that it’s not really clear how to search for files like we used to in earlier versions. Well all you need to do is simply start typing, and Windows will start highlighting folders as you type.
However, this type of search doesn’t extend beyond what’s contained in your Libraries. So to search more effectively, you can use the File Explorer (Previously known as Windows Explorer). Here are three ways to access the File Explorer in Windows 8:
1. Type file, then click the File Explorer app.
2. Move your mouse to the lower-left corner of the screen, right-click, and then choose File Explorer from the pop-up menu.
3. Press Win-E (i.e. the Windows key and E key).
By default, File Explorer searches in Libraries, but you can also click the drive or folder you want to search in from the left side navigation pane at left.
